TRAGIC UPDATE: Valley man recovered from the water at Lake Harding identified

LEE Co., Ala. (WRBL) – A death investigation is underway in Lee County as the man pulled from the waters of Lake Harding Saturday night is identified.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death of 57-year-old Mark Frazer Sinks of Valley. Coroner Bill Harris says around 7:30 PM, Saturday evening, the Lee County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call to a residence on Lee Road 785 on Lake Harding to a possible drowning.

Upon arrival by Beulah Fire and Rescue and EAMC EMS a search of the water was initiated. Mark Frazer Sinks was located in the water a few feet from shore by a paramedic of EAMC EMS, about 50 minutes after the 911 call came in. Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced Sinks dead at the scene at 8:55 PM.

It is reported Sinks went into the water after cutting grass and when his wife could not locate him, she called 911. The death investigation is ongoing, and no other details are available at this time.

Sinks’ body will be taken to the medical examiner’s office of the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a postmortem examination
