Some Troup County High School students drove home in a brand new car Friday, May 11th.

One car was donated to each Troup County School System high school for the purpose of giving back to a student who has shown positive behaviors such as good attendance, and student success throughout the school year.

Oeisha Jenkins, a student at Callaway High School, was the lucky winner of a new Toyota Carolla.

“I just got a job at Great Wolf Lodge so I could save up my money to buy me a car. On a personal level, I knew that would help my family out because they are paying for their car right now. We had been praying and praying for this and it is a blessing.”,” said Jenkins.

Jenkins said the car incentive motivated her and many of her classmates to come to school and get good grades. Callaway High Principal, Jonathan Laney, told the student body that suspensions are down 43%, student failures are down 37%, and student absences are down 42%!!!!!

Jennifer Espinoza, a Junior at LaGrange High School, also won a new Toyota Corolla.

” I didn’t know I would be winning a car! I was hoping to get a car after high school because my family had other priorities, but now I will definitely get my driver’s license this summer,” said Espinoza.

These students were chosen out of 153 eligible teens.

The exact criteria for eligibility: no more than 5 missed days of school, passing all classes with a 70 or above, no days in ISS or OSS.
