Uber driver not facing charges after shooting

Local News

A Florida Uber driver who claimed self-defense in a new “Stand Your Ground” controversy will not face charges for the deadly shooting of another driver.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office released the Uber’s dash cam video from the confrontation Tuesday morning.

The video shows Jason Boek approach the car and apparently threaten the driver before he was shot.

The sheriff says the driver Robert Westlake, acted legally and Sheriff had a warning for residents.

“Here’s a message for the hotheads of the community: don’t do that stuff. Good people carry guns and they will shoot you… a lot… graveyard dead,” Sheriff Grady Judd says.

The Sheriff’s Office says Jason Boek thought his girlfriend was in the Uber car and tried to force it off the road.
