UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball raises funds for local students

 The Columbus Convention and Trade center hosted their annual United Negro College Fund Mayor’s Masked Ball this evening. The gala is a fundraising event to help support local teens with scholarships to attend any college they want. 
    State representative Calvin Smyre spoke during the gala and says he stands with the U.N.C.F mission of investing in better futures for students.

What we try to do is pull young people up by the boot straps because education is the escalator to upward mobility it is the key to all advancement, so we’re just trying to provide assistance for students to seek higher education at the college of their choice.

Smyre says their goal is to raise $165,000 for local students.
