Columbus police are investigating two apparently unrelated homicides this morning. 

A woman was shot to death on a playground at Rosehill Park on 33rd Street off Hamilton Road, according to Deputy Muscogee County Coroner Freeman Worley. Worley pronounced the victim dead at 5:40 am on the scene.

The woman died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner’s office. Her name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Police were still investigating the homicide into the early afternoon hours. The victim’s body remained on the playground near Columbus Fire and EMS Station No. 2 until after the noon hour.

Police are also investigating a homicide at Rigdon Road and Illges Road. Roy Wilborn, 60, died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Coroner Buddy Bryan. 

Wilborn was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Campus at 11:40 pm Tuesday night and was pronounced dead at 5:08 this morning.

The shooting took place at a bus stop near Pecan Street, Maj. J.D. Hawk said.
