Lee County Coroner has released the identity of the victim in Tuesday’s shooting in Smiths Station.
The 23-year-old victim has been identified as Robert Lee Woods, Jr. Woods was pronounced dead on the scene.
Lee County investigators confirm to News 3 a 23-year-old man was shot and killed around lunchtime in Smiths Station.
The shooting happened near a home along Lee Road 229.
According to investigators, the victim’s mother is the suspected shooter and is being detained as the investigation is currently on-going

Sheriff Jones says the shooting just happened around 12:00 central time and it appears the shooting may be domestic in nature.
