Witnesses and nearby drug agent help Lanett Police quickly capture 3 bank robbery suspects

LANETT, Ala. (WRBL) – Thanks to solid eyewitnesses and a nearby Chambers County Drug Task Force Agent, three armed robbery suspects are captured just 5 minutes after Lanett police were dispatched to a bank robbery at Farmers & Merchants Bank along Cusseta Road.

Tuesday, July 24th and 12:38 PM, Chambers County 911 dispatched a robbery alarm at Farmer & Merchants Bank along Cusseta Road.

Witnesses provided a description of the offenders and the vehicle they left in. Witnesses say two males wearing dark shirts, gloves and something covering their faces exited the bank and ran behind the Chicken Stop. The offenders were observed getting into a red Ford Mustang and traveling South on Cusseta Road at a high rate of speed.

The information was dispatched to surrounding officers. At 12:43 PM Captain Robert Chambers with the Drug Task Force located the vehicle along County Road 83. At 12:44 pm Captain Chambers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.

22-year-old LaMartez Story of Lafayette, 25-year-old Jacobie Phillips, and 22-year-old Cordero Story, both of Valley, were arrested and charged with Robbery 1st degree.

Thankfully nobody was hurt in the robbery or during the arrests.

The Lanett Police Department is thanking private citizens, Captain Robert Chambers, Valley PD and Chambers County for their information, quick response and professionalism that led to the arrests.

The suspects are in route to the Chambers Co. Detention Facility. We hope to have mug shots for you later on.
