JASPER, Ala. (AP) — Alabama State Troopers say a man who fled the scene of a fatal accident on Thursday has been arrested.
Local news outlets report troopers say 25-year-old Tomas Hugo was arrested over the weekend and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident.
Hugo was taken to the Walker County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
The accident happened on Highway 69 northbound. The incident involved Hugo’s vehicle and a 1995 Honda Nighthawk motorcycle.
A 9-year-old Jasper boy, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was pronounced dead on the scene. The motorcycle driver, 23-year-old Jason Key, was taken to UAB Hospital.
Online jail records did not list an attorney for Hugo.
