Manchester forfeits 5 wins after self-reporting violation to GHSA

The Manchester Boys Basketball Ball Team was undefeated at 20-0 and the top-ranked team in the state.

But the Blue Devils self-reported a violation to the GHSA and have had to forfeit five games for playing an ineligible player.

Manchester goes from 20-0 to 15-5. Manchester played an ineligible player in their wins over Brookstone, Central-Talbotton, Macon County, Webster County and Crawford County from January 9 through January 16.

“We did what we had to do. The young man got himself eligible and that’s what we needed so now we just want to move forward. We hit a little adversity, but that’s life. That’s what we try to teach them so right now we’ll take it one game at a time and we’re going to work hard, play hard and play together and dedicate the erst of the season to us,” says Anzy Hardman, Manchester head coach.

They’ve dropped from first in the Class A Power Rankings to number 6. They will host Senior Night Tuesday against Brookstone at home.
