Murder suspect moved to Harris County Jail


COLUMBUS, Ga. – Local officials confirm that a fight is forcing one of the suspects in the Double Churches Park murder to move to another jail.

Muscogee County Sheriff John Darr says 21-year-old Akevious Powell had to be transferred to the Harris County Jail for safety reasons.

Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley tells News 3 Powell is one of four murder suspects from Muscogee County housed in Harris County. Powell turned himself in Monday in connection with murder of 24-year-old Demonde Dicks, Jr.

Powell and 19-year-old Jacquawn Clark are currently in jail.

Meanwhile, police are still looking for a third suspect, 25-year-old Derain Waller.
