Employees sue Chipotle for unpaid work time

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Chipotle faces a lawsuit from ten thousand employees who claim the restaurant chain cheated them of fair pay.

Current and former employees claim the company made them work “off the clock” without paying them — a practice known as wage theft.

The lawsuit says Chipotle management regularly requires hourly-paid workers to punch out and then continue work until they’re given permission to leave.

Chipotle denies any wrongdoing and says in a statement the case has no merit.
