FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WFLA/CNN) — Was it coincidence or divine intervention? A giant cross washed up feet away from a tiki bar in Fort Lauderdale and it has people wondering where it came from.

Some people think the 20-foot-long cross washed up from Puerto Rico or the Florida Keys.

The cross was first spotted Sunday night on the beach behind the Ocean Manor hotel.

Many people couldn’t believe their eyes when they say the waves crashing onto the giant cross. “There’s a cross that just washed up and we have no idea where it came from,” said hotel owner Frank Tallirico.

Tallirico said he considers the cross a sign of protection. He said his sister had been praying at the property that morning because she was spooked by a bad dream. “She’s like, ‘You know what, it’s not that big of deal, I just had a bad dream and a bad feeling, so I wanted to come here and pray’,” said Tallirico.

Hours later, the cross made its arrival. It’s not going away anytime soon. “I’m glad it’s here. It’s staying here and if anybody wants to come see it, take a picture with it, they’re more than welcome.”
