By all accounts, lawmakers finally seem to be close to an agreement on a new farm bill.
The old farm bill expired October 1, and the new bill has been stuck in a house/senate conference committee as lawmakers try to hash out the differences between the republican’s house bill and the bi-partisan senate bill.
Lawmakers need to hash out the differences between a bipartisan Senate bill and decidedly Republican House bill…. which included new work requirements for the food stamp program.
Congress has just a dozen working days left to resolve its differences and hash out a final bill or it’s back to square one.
