Priests play in Vatican snow

ROME, Italy (CBS News) - Instead of prayer it was time for snowball fights for some priests at the Vatican on Monday (February 26) as an unusual snowfall blanketed St. Peter's square.

Groups of priests from the Gregorian university, located close to the Vatican put aside their spiritual calmness to pelt each other with ice-cold snowballs.

One group of Jesuit priests stopped for a group photograph with St. Peter's Basilica only just visible behind them in the cold snowy morning.

Schools and many metro stations have been closed and driving in cars was proving difficult for Romans, unused to these climatic conditions.

A few solitary dog walkers were seen out in the almost deserted parks blanketed by clean white snow.
