COLUMBUS, Ga — A major addition to the retail landscape on the south side of Columbus is bringing with it high expectations for an economic boost.
The Walmart Supercenter on Victory Drive opened its doors for the first time Wednesday morning at 7:30. The new stores replaces the the Buena Vista Road location that closed Tuesday night.
Walmart says the new location brings with it 150 new jobs; however, that’s not the only reason people who live in the area are happy to see this store relocate here.
“I hope it brings many people to the area and spices up the south side. We needed this. We really need this,” says Karen Cummings who lives in the area.
People were already lining up before the doors officially opened.
Walmart says that the Victory Drive location will employ an estimated 300 part-time and full-time associates.
