Columbus, GA (WRBL) – WRBL News 3’s Drug Take Back event collected nearly 500 pounds of expired or unused medications, with an estimated street value of more than $800,000.
The Drug Take Back event was sponsored by Piedmont Columbus Regional, the Columbus Health Department and Son’s Chevrolet.
Muscogee County Sheriff’s deputies werre on hand to provide a safe and secure way to dispose of your expired and unused prescription drugs.
In addition, representatives of Piedmont Columbus Regional accepted syringes and used needles and other so-called “sharps” for proper disposal.
The event will helped promote the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day which will take place this Saturday, April 27th.
Georgia and Alabama law enforcement agencies will be participating, providing a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs at locations across both states.
