Auburn police have arrested an Opelika man after burglaries at two apartment complexes.
51-year-old Phillip Robinson was arrested on multiple warrants; Burglary 2nd Degree (2 counts), Burglary 3rd Degree (1 count), Theft of Property 2nd Degree, Theft of Property 3rd Degree and Theft of Property 4th Degree (2 counts).
According to a release from Auburn police, the arrest stems from investigations into burglaries that were reported on February 2nd and February 4th at apartment complexes located in the 600 block of Shug Jordan Pkwy. and the 800 block of W. Longleaf Drive.
Friday, February 2 at about 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a call about a suspicious male being confronted as he carried property away from an apartment. The property was recovered and further investigation resulted in Robinson being developed as a suspect.
Sunday, February 4 at about 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of an individual, matching Robinson’s description, unlawfully entering two different apartments that were occupied.
Officers contacted Robinson in a vehicle as he left the area Sunday and he was arrested.
Approximately $4,200 in property consisting of jewelry, electronics, clothing, and cash were reported taken in the combined burglaries, a portion of which were recovered by police with his arrest. The case remains under investigation and additional charges are anticipated.
Robinson was transported to the Lee County Jail where he remains in custody on a $30,000 bond.
