Phenix City aids Louisiana flood victims

PHENIX CITY, Ala — Some people in Phenix City spent their day working to provide flood relief to victims in Louisiana.

The Louisiana Flood Relief Effort collected supplies today at the East Alabama Motor Speedway. out on Highway 80 in Phenix City. The group packed items such as non-perishable food items, diapers, cleaning supplies, and blankets in a truck and trailers.

According to organizer Ricky Vinyard, the donations exceeded their expectations and a fully loaded trailer is on the way to Louisiana.  Another trailer is leaving tomorrow.

A fellow organizer says those wanting to help out can call her while Vinyard is away delivering the donations so far. Donators can contact Sara Serene at Serene Clean for pick up or drop off of donations during the week at 762-241-7094.

Items needed include cleaning supplies, mops, brooms, scrub brushes, laundry detergent, diapers, wipes, clothing, blankets, etc.
