PHENIX CITY, Ala – The Phenix City Board of Realtors announced today which candidates will get its votes for upcoming city elections– and it all has to do with development.
Election day is still a week away, but the Phenix City Board of Realtors has spoken, with its membership body today officially endorsing candidates from Phenix City and Smiths Station.
Candidates from both cities gathered at the Board of Realtors office this morning to receive their endorsements. Last week, all the candidates spoke at forums hosted by the Board of Realtors.
Based on what they said there, the board members had an election of their own, to determine who would get their nod in each race.
The board’s favored candidates are the ones who support loosening building regulations for the area.
“What we’re looking for is candidates who will sort of deregulate, make it cheaper to do business for developers and anybody else who would like to move their business into Phenix City,” says Chris Lammons, Association Executive of the Phenix City Board of Realtors.
Along with a stamp of approval, the candidates also received $250 each in campaign contributions from the Board of Realtors.
Elections in Phenix City and Smiths Station will be Tuesday, August 23.
