COLUMBUS, Ga. – Cathy Williams won the District 7 school board runoff race against Shelia Williams.  Williams previously served on the school board for eight years including two years as the board’s chair.

Williams says she’s excited to help continue raise our school district to the next level.

“I think that we’re making a lot of progress in this district and I want to be part of making sure that progress continues so that we can raise the district to the next level and then the next level and be the best district in Georgia,” Williams said.

Superintendent David Lewis says he is looking forward to working with Williams and continuing to work with Pat Hugley-Green.

“That now gives us a full board and we’re able to move on and looking forward to working with our new members and our current members and very excited about the future for our district,” Lewis said.

This year’s newly elected school board members will be sworn in January.
