Gubernatorial candidate addresses school safety

Georgia Secretary of State and Republican Gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp was the featured speaker at the Muscogee County Republican party dinner Tuesday night.

Kemp is one of six candidates vying fo the governship, that includes Casey Cagle, Hunter Hill, Clay Tippins, Marc Urbach and Michael Williams. News 3 asked Kemp about his plan to protect students from gun violence ahead of Wednesday’s national school walk-out.

“I believe it as a candidate for Governor that we need to trust our educators, our superintendents, our school board members and especially our parents and the local community to see what they need to do to secure their school if they’re worried about that,” says Brian Kemp.

Kemps also tells News 3 that, “While I don’t oppose arming teachers, I believe that’s something that should be done with the blessing of the local community and the local policy makers.
