Sixteen students from Central High School received funds to propel their college careers Tuesday morning.
The Phenix City Mayor’s Ball for Education and Charity Committee announced the Central High School award winners Tuesday morning in council chambers.
“I mean, this financial aid is monumental to my family. Otherwise,we wouldn’t have been able to pay for this college class. I’m just very grateful to have this opportunity hopefully to continue my studies and move on to make my dreams come true,” says Christopher Michael Rogers.
The students will participate in dual enrollment through Chattahoochee Valley Community College.
The courses are available through their high school.
The 2017 Mayor’s Ball for Education and Charity raised more than $100,000 to bring the four year fundraising total to $250,000.
So far, those funds have been awarded to 90 graduates of Central High and Glenwood School.
