Students learn from accomplished author

COLUMBUS, Ga.- The environment at Calvary Christian School on Thursday seemed more like a concert than an average lesson on reading.

Children’s author Chris Rumble visited the school, and brought a whole lot of fun with him. Rumble calls himself “The Reading Guitar Man,” and the title fits to a T. He has visited schools in 39 states, sharing how he became an accomplished author and illustrator. What lead him here is hard work and the determination to achieve his dream.

“At this point in my life, I’m 54, I’m very aware of the people that fashioned and molded my life as they kind of appeared and said just the right thing to me at the right time…and my heart was ready to receive that..and it changed me,” Rumble told News 3.

Now, he concentrates on molding others who have a dream.

“My goal is to just come in and have a blast with kids but then in the middle of that, do some things that we all think are important in our culture such as speaking about their value and their calling.”

And speaking about the value of others can leave a lasting impact. So what did the kids take away from Rumble’s visit?

“Just a few words could change someone’s life for the better. If you don’t, they might not be what they want to be,” said 5th grade student Peyton Dorman.
