COLUMBUS, Ga. – The United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley is able to do a lot of great work in our area thanks to the generosity of our community. No where was that spirit of generosity that only the Valley can deliver more apparent than when TSYS presented the United Way with its sizable donation.
With thunderous applause, a packed house at the TSYS Riverfront Campus presented the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley with a check for $1, 439,001.
“For us in the Chattahoochee Valley, TSYS represents approximately 20% of our total campaign goal for this year. And the support and the tremendous enthusiasm and the overwhelming gift that TSYS provides to our community is just truly beyond words,” says Jennifer St. John, VP of Community Initiatives of the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley.
“So we like to get involved in every way possible, whether it’s serving on the United Way’s Board of Directors, whether it’s getting involved in campaigns like stuff the bus, whether it’s going out and volunteering at agencies, we want to give back to our community because we want the community because we want the Chattahoochee Valley to be a great place to live, work, and serve,” says Keith Pierce, of TSYS and Citywide Campaign Chair of the 2016 United Way Campaign.
At the check presentation ceremony, some TSYS employees shared their experiences benefiting from agencies supported by the united way.
“To connect stories of employees and team members here to the United Way giving, so we had team members who gave their stories at our kick off and again today at our finale. And I really think it just helps team members to connect with the true meaning of what our support for the United Way is doing for people in the community,” says Pierce.
“The United Way supports 29 agencies and 57 programs in our local community. And in our footprint, that’s Muscogee County, Russell County, and the six surrounding counties in Georgia,” says St. John.
Community investments that yield countless, immeasurable returns.
