We are three days away from the start of the high school football season in both Georgia and Alabama. Some teams looking across the river for their opening night opponents. That includes Carver and Opelika, who haven’t faced off since 1981. Friday will be the third meeting all time.
Carver has a new head coach in a Dre’mail King…. and he’s not scared to bring his team across the Chattahoochee to face one of the powerhouses of Alabama football.
The Tigers didn’t have a chance to have a scrimmage last week, so it will be the first chance for them to hit someone else.
Coach King says it is a little bit of a disadvantage, but he thinks his team is ready.
And they’re trying to treat a big interstate season opener just like any other game.
“We’re preparing as if we’re going into any other game. Although Opelika is really good….. and it has a really good program. We also have a really good program. so we’re just preparing the way that we need to. To get prepared for any football team. and we’re just ready to play,” says King.
Kick-off is this Friday at 8/7.
