3 people killed in West Georgia head-on crash

CARROLLTON, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say three people are dead following a head-on crash in west Georgia.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the deadly collision happened Thursday evening in Carroll County, about 50 miles west of Atlanta.

Tracey Watson, a spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Public Safety, says a Nissan Altima traveling west on Ga. 166 crossed the centerline and smashed into an oncoming Nissan Maxima.

Watson says both drivers, 61-year-old Hollis Eason and 43-year-old Hosea Clay George, died at the scene. Carroll County Deputy Coroner Keith Hancock said George’s son, 25-year-old David Clay George, was a passenger in the Maxima and died on the way to a hospital.

Watson says the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
