Lions win on walk-off field goal

Columbus -- The Columbus Lions overcame a 16-point second-half deficit on Saturday to beat the first-place Massachusetts Pirates 63-62 on a walk-off field goal from Tyler Rausa.

Rausa, who joined the team just last week, also made three two-point kickoffs in the second half.

In that half, quarterback Mason Espinosa threw three touchdowns to Jarmon Fortson.

With nine seconds left in the game, Fortson stretched out for the game-winning touchdown but was ruled down at the one-yard line with one second left on the clock. The Lions challenged the play, and the call on the field stood.

Rausa nailed the field goal to give Columbus the win, beating the Pirates who had already beaten Columbus twice this season, which both happened on the last play of the game.
