Columbus, Northside advance in GHSA softball playoffs

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Columbus and Northside made quick work of their opponents in the first round of the Georgia High School Association’s 4A softball playoffs. The Blue Devils swept Cross Creek 8-2, and 18-1 to advance against the winner of the Cedartown vs Marist match up. Northside, the top seed from 4A Region 1, disposed of Hephzibah 17-0, and 12-0 to advance in the best-of-three opening round series.

Also in 4A, Hardaway was swept by Burke County, 10-0, and 14-4. In 2A, Callaway was swept by Rockmart, 11-0, and 12-2. In class 1A, Marion County won game one on the road 6-0 against Atkinson County. Schley County has earned a first-round bye. In class 1A private, Brookstone beat Hebron, 6-3 in the 3rd game. They will take on Stratford Academy next week. In class 5A, Harris County defeated McIntosh in the opening round, they will play Carrollton in the second round.
