Locked in with high clouds this afternoon and evening from a storm off the coast of Florida which is bringing very heavy rainfall to that area.
For us, the clouds will slowly break and for Monday, mostly sunny and seasonable ahead of major changes in the forecast.
A strong system will move out of Canada and march to the Deep South. With the nature of this system, a few areas will see a rain/snow mix with a small area of changeover to all snow. However, our current thinking, ground temperatures will be too warm for anything to stick.
The greatest area to see a dusting to less than an inch of snow will be northwest of Interstate 85 across Alabama. Chambers County has the highest potential across the News 3 viewing area to see anything stick.
After this front moves through, temperatures will drop dramatically into the low 20s for Wednesday morning. This cold spell will last for a couple of days until we can moderate back to more seasonable temperatures by next Saturday which is Groundhog Day.
