SNOW POTENTIAL: Snow showers are across the entire News 3 Alabama counties with grassy surfaces covered. Columbus will snow lasting overnight through 6 a.m. est and clearing before sunrise. Columbus and areas north and west (including Auburn, Opelika, Phenix City and LaGrange) will see snow accumulations of 1/2 inch to1.5 inches. Areas a littler farther southeast (including Americus, Buena Vista and Fort Gaines) will still see snow but slightly lower accumulations of 1/2 to 1 inch.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: Our entire areas is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 a.m. est Wednesday. Roads and bridges may be slippery late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning when the snow melts on warmer pavement and quickly refreezes into a thin glaze of ice.
DANGEROUS COLD: Bitter cold heads in late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. Wind chill values will be in the single digits to teens. When temps get this cold, it becomes dangerous and frostbite can set in 30 minutes to exposed skin. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect 10 p.m. est Tuesday night until 10 a.m. est Wednesday morning for dangerous cold.
Afternoon high temperatures will not get out of the 30s Wednesday even with sunny skies.
The rest of the work week will be sunny and cool, but nothing like what we feel Wednesday. Morning lows will be in the lower 20s through Friday with afternoon high temperatures more mild in the 50s. This weekend will be much warmer with high temperatures near 70°F Sunday.
The next for rain will be Monday when another cold front moves through.
