A local shelter is urging pet owners to consider how this cold weather impacts our four legged family members.
Numerous animals have already died in other parts of the country from hypothermia. PAWS Humane says to keep your pet warm and sheltered from the freezing temperatures.
“We just want to urge pet owners, if you think it is too cold for you outside, which it is going to be tonight, bring them inside if at all possible . If you can’t bring them in the house, try to get them in the garage or somewhere that has closure so the wind isn’t getting them as well, and if you absolutely can’t bring them inside, try to get a heat lamp or some hay that they can bury themselves under and that will keep them warm as well,” says Casey Smith.
Smith says she has seen pictures on Facebook of pets freezing to death and wants to make sure that doesn’t happen here.
