This weekend’s highlighted event is the Brookshire Memorial 5K and Fun Run in Town Creek Park Saturday morning in honor of Captain Roger Brookshire. The inaugural race is put on by the Auburn Firefighters Association with all proceeds going to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
“We decided we wanted to donate our proceeds to of the race that’s this Saturday to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation in honor of Captain Roger Brookshire who was killed in the line of duty in 1977 here in Auburn,” says race committee member Josh Datnoff.
