As part of our promise to bring you accurate and dependable forecasts that you can use to plan your day, WRBL News 3 has instituted a Weather Aware Day.

Storms can pop up about any time. But there are times when we know in advance that dangerous weather is coming. When that happens, we will trigger a Weather Aware Day.

This means a majority of our viewers may be affected by dangerous weather conditions that day.

When will we trigger a Weather Aware Day?

A Weather Aware Day is issued when the forecast is potentially dangerous enough to cause us to escalate our coverage. This may include tornadoes, dangerous and destructive thunderstorms, tropical systems, extreme heat index, and dangerous wind chills.

This is an early-alert commitment to keep you ahead of the severe weather.

This will give you time to take necessary precautions to keep you and your family safe once the storms hit.

How will I know when it is a Weather Aware Day?

When a Severe Weather Awareness Day is announced, we will alert our viewers quickly and accurately by using all of our assets. We will give you the choice of how you want to be alerted to the threat of potentially dangerous weather conditions.

We will alert viewers on WRBL and WRBL.com. We will also send out a push alert, a tweet, update our Facebook status and direct folks to our Free WRBL Weather and News Apps. Through web and social we will also direct subscribers to PMB radio partner that we simulcast on “The Q” or Q 107.3.

When you see the Alert on-air, on-line or on your phone via push alert, you’ll know potentially dangerous weather is going to affect you in some way.

What should I do on a Weather Aware Day?
